Our Story
The de Boer Family
Welcome to De Boer’s Market, where our family brings fresh, local goodness straight from our farm to your table.
In the 1940's, our great-grandparents, Emil and Maria, moved to Ontario from Saskatchewan and began dairy farming. Over the decades, the farm has grown alongside our family with some upgrades in the 1970's and again in 2011.
In 2018 we started a simple roadside stand where we sold sweet corn, beans, and other veggies right here on the farm. Two years later we expanded to offer our own pasture raised chicken and beef.
In 2023, we opened our market with a simple goal: to reconnect people with the food they eat and the farmers who grow it.
Our roots run deep in dairy farming and cash cropping, but over the years, we’ve expanded to grow a wider variety of food for our own family and now for yours, too. By diversifying our farm, we’ve been able to share more of what we grow and raise right here on our land, offering seasonal produce, homemade goods, and local products that support a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. Now, as we put the finishing touches on our new barn on this property, we're excited to welcome the dairy cows back home!
When you shop with us, you’re not just buying fresh food — you’re supporting local agriculture, family values, and a community that cares about where their food comes from.
We’re proud to share our farm and our harvest with you. Thank you for being part of our story.
Visit us at the market — we’d love to meet you!

OUR CHICKEN

Our Chicken
Our chickens are pasture-raised right here on the farm all summer long. Each flock starts out in a cozy brooder for their first three weeks, where they stay warm, dry, and safe while they grow their feathers. Once they’re ready, they move outside into our innovative ROVA chicken tractor — an automated mobile coop that can house up to 300 birds.
The ROVA moves on its own up to 15 times a day, giving our chickens constant access to fresh grass and plenty of space to forage, peck, and roam. With an automatic feed and water system, our birds stay healthy and well-cared-for from start to finish.
We raise our chickens in small batches of about 250 birds at a time. In 2023, we’re proud to raise four batches — ensuring our community has access to delicious, pasture-raised chicken that’s thoughtfully and humanely raised right here on our farm.

OUR COWS

Our Cows
Our beef comes primarily from Angus cross cattle, known for their rich flavour and excellent quality. From a young age, our beef calves are raised alongside our dairy herd, giving them the same level of care and attention.
As they grow, our beef cattle are grouped together and moved to spacious pens where they can thrive as a herd. During the summer months, they enjoy grazing freely on fresh pasture, while year-round they’re fed a balanced diet of nutritious grains and grasses to ensure healthy, well-marbled beef.
\We take pride in raising our animals responsibly and naturally, so you can feel good about the delicious beef you’re bringing home to your family.

OUR PRODUCE
Our Produce
We grow sweet corn, garlic, zucchini, squash, potatoes, and pumpkins right here on our farm, ready for you from mid-summer into the fall. To offer even more variety, we also bring in other seasonal produce from trusted local Ontario farms — so you can enjoy the best our region has to offer, all in one place.
