Assistant Butcher
This position will include assisting the butcher in prepping, cutting and packing meats, cleaning, and general maintenance as well as customer service. Knowledge of cuts of beef and being able to assist customers with meal ideas and cooking suggestions is an asset. Experience as a butcher is an asset however we are willing to train the right individuals.
Qualifications
•Completion of Post-Secondary Education required •Prior Butchery experience an asset •Knowledge of meat varieties (beef, lamb, poultry, pork), cuts, preparation/cooking methods, custom orders, etc. •Experience with Food Safety and Food Handlers Certificate Required •Knowledge and experience using cutting knives, bandsaws, meat grinder, sausage and patty making equipment •Ability to work in a fast-paced environment •Excellent organization, planning and time management skills •Strong people management and communication abilities •Ability to work both independently and with a team •Must be available to work days leading up to holiday weekends including Saturdays •Available to work Saturdays as required. •High attention to detail when cutting and packaging products •Exceptional customer service standards, skills and abilities. Must be able to process sales through point of sale and answer customer questions both in person and over the phone. •Must have excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills. Must be able to take and fill customer orders. •Must have your own vehicle-there is no public transportation to the store
Responsibilities
•Weekly cutting and preparing varieties of meat •Cut, trim, debone, and grind meats, such as beef, pork, poultry, and lamb •Shape, and tie roasts, using knife, and twine •Prepare special cuts of meat at precise sizes or thicknesses ordered by customers •Ensure the customer experience is of the highest quality possible •Maintain the highest standards related to sanitation, freshness, trim and cutting quality, etc. •Support and adhere to company food safety standards and other requirements, such as equipment training, safety training and monitoring •Ensure all butcher room areas and equipment are cleaned daily or weekly to shop standards •Promote and participate in a work environment free of workplace harassment and violence. •Perform work in a safe manner, so as not to endanger oneself or others. •Adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act. •Participate in all training programs as required. •Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
•Standing in one spot for long periods of time •Lifting of items of 75+ lbs •Hand eye coordination and fine motor skills while cutting and packing various meats
Working Conditions
•Exposure to cold temperatures, cut room is approx. 8-10 degrees, occasional organizing of freezer •Some exposure to noise when bandsaw or grinder is running
Job Types: Full-time
Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30– 40 per week
Schedule:
•Day shift
•Weekends as required
Experience: Butchery: 2 years, willing to train the right candidate

Retail Associate

Experience as a butcher is an asset however we are willing to train the right individuals.

•Completion of Post-Secondary Education required •Prior culinary or retail experience is an asset •Ability to work in a fast-paced environment •Excellent organization, planning and time management skills •Strong people management and communication abilities •Ability to work both independently and with a team •Must be available to work days leading up to holiday weekends including Saturdays •Available to work Saturdays as required. •High attention to detail when preparing and packaging products •Exceptional customer service standards, skills and abilities. •Vac packaging and labelling different cuts of meat •Prepare and package a variety of products in store kitchen to sell through the store utilizing products that we sell in store •Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner •Ensure the customer experience is of the highest quality possible •Operate cash register and process transactions •Maintain a clean store environment •Stock shelves and ensure products are neatly displayed •Support and adhere to company food safety standards and other requirements, such as equipment training, safety training and monitoring •Promote and participate in a work environment free of workplace harassment and violence. •Perform work in a safe manner, so as not to endanger oneself or others. •Adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act. •Participate in all training programs as required. •Perform other duties as assigned.
